We’ve been around guns all of our lives. It’s the typical Mid-West farm community story. Our Grandfathers hunted as well as our Dad. Mostly just rabbits and squirrels with some deer and bird hunting thrown in. The guns were .22’s and shotguns and weren’t fancy, but got the job done. Those guns have been passed down and are now in our care.
Our specialty became that closet corner gun that was Great Granddad’s, Grandpa’s, Dad’s and now yours. It needs some TLC, or maybe more, but can and will do the same job they performed for family members of the past. With today’s communication and information highways, the ability to put these guns back to like new condition is not only possible but done everyday. With the modern finishes and materials, they can be better than when they were new and we still preserve and respect the heritage of each piece so the memories can remain.
The need for these new materials and metal finishes became even greater now that we are hunting in the hot and humid region of the Southeast U.S. After repairing and refinishing several guns for ourselves, friends and neighbors it was suggested that we should take the next step. Wood Bros Inc Sporting Arms & Repair was born, despite all of the obstacles presented. Of course, new firearms can also be improved and individualized as we do that everyday too.
